Kramon & Graham Clients Prevail In Complex Real Estate Dispute
Kramon & Graham, P.A. principals Kirstin Maguire Hopkins and David J. Shuster secured a decisive federal court victory for their clients, a lawyer and law firm who were sued in connection with a complicated real estate dispute. The United States District Court for the District of Maryland agreed with Ms. Hopkins's arguments that the plaintiffs failed to state any viable claims against the clients and granted their motion to dismiss, bringing a favorable resolution to the case.
The lawsuit, filed by a group of plaintiffs composed of multiple limited liability companies, stemmed from disputes over agreements involving the purchase, renovation, and sale of properties in Baltimore, Maryland. The plaintiffs alleged various claims against multiple defendants, including the Firm's clients who served as title agent for the transactions at issue. The plaintiffs alleged claims of fraud, civil conspiracy to commit fraud, RICO and RICO conspiracy, gross negligence, and breach of fiduciary duty. The court ruled in favor of the Firm's clients, dismissing the plaintiffs' claims in their entirety.
